The Vendue Inn

We stayed in the Vendue Inn "across the street"...in other words, we weren't in the main building.

Here we are in the lobby of our building.

We stayed at the Vendue Inn which is right at the Waterfront Park and East Bay Street. This was, perhaps, the most interesting place that we have visited. The rooms were.....well, interesting. It was an old warehouse that has been converted and it had a beautiful, exposed brick wall. The room was elegant in a shabby chic sort of way. The bath goodies were awesome....with the BEST oatmeal soap! In addition to a wonderful southern buffet breakfast each morning, the afternoons had hors d'ourves and then each night there was cookies and milk.

This view of our room is from the "foyer". It was an Asian themed room and I tried to post the wall art picture, but it didn't come through. Notice the lamp on the nightstand, the "crack" was to the right of it where the sheetrock and brick wall meet.

You might ask, what do we have to complain about then?!

1. The staff was not the friendliest at all.
2. The room was not designed for "resting"......the bedspread was made out of this slick, funky material that refused to stay on the bed and there was nowhere to just relax.
3. The room on the other side of the wall from our headboard! Evidently when they plastered the wall, they were in a hurry or forgot to inspect or something. At 1:30 on Monday morning we were woken up by a woman talking on the telephone. Come to find out, it was from that room. We could hear her just as if she were sitting in our room! Needless to say by 2:30, we were ready for HER to go to bed!
4. The room did not have a window. For the first thirty minutes we were in the room, I felt very claustophobic. Luckily, the skylight over the bed gave me just enough light (plus the light from next door through the crack in the wall!) to decide that I could stay.

All in all, it was a neat place. Would I stay there again, though? Probably not.
