What I LOVE about Christmas Vacation

There are so many things that I love about this two week break:

Staying up late, sleeping late, afternoon naps, having a clean house for a change, eating lunch in real restaurants, playing with the kids (and the dogs), scrapbooking, and, most of all, reading! Yes, reading.....I love nothing more than to curl up each day with a good book.

I used to keep a reading journal where I jotted down the title, the author, date read, and some notes about it, but last summer got out of the habit. That is something that I plan to take up again in January. In the meantime, here is a vacation re-cap of what I have read/am reading/plan to read:

1. Olivia by Ian Falconer --- this children's book was a gift from Ron
2. The Cajun Night Before Christmas , illustrated by James Rice --- I collect "Night Before Christmas" books and Ron usually adds one (or in the case of this year, 2) each Christmas
3. Night Before Dog-mas by Claudine Gandolfi (also a gift from Ron in honor of my early gift -- Annie)
4. The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe (the illustrated adaptation of the book) -- this was a gift from Clay.
5. The Reagans: Portrait of a Marriage by Anne Edwards -- This was a deal book. I found it right at the beginning of the break for $1.74 (hardback) at the Wofford College Bookstore.
6. Sister Freaks by Rebecca St. James -- this gift from my parents is set up as a daily read devotional, so I am only reading one chapter a day.
7. Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder -- I decided a while back to collect and start rereading all of the LIW books.
8. The Book Club by Mary Alice Munroe -- I finished this one last week and LOVED it....can't wait to read more by her.

Still to read:

9. Prey by Michael Chrichton ( I LOVE his stuff!) -- this was another $1.74 hardback at the college bookstore (who would have thought to look there for quality books?!?!)
10. Sphere by Michael Chrichton --- bought this one at a book sale a while back and haven't gotten around to reading it yet.

Hopefully, I'll get through all of these by the end of January! But, vacation puts a big dent in it and a January SNOW DAY (notice, SNOW NOT ICE) sure would help!
