Phi Mu Recruitment

On Wednesday night I was invited to participate in the progressive dinner the chapter was hosting for spring recruitment. I had a wonderful time meeting all the girls and seeing how much the chapter has changed in the last (almost) 13 years.

Phi Mu has always been a huge part of my life and it has provided so many opportunties for me. I can't count the number of friends I have made from all over the country (Cara Dawn and Margarete in Atlanta, Jen in Charlotte, Kristin in Virginia, Carolyn in Ft. Worth, Cindy in Chicago.....this list could go ON and ON but I wanted to make sure they knew I haven't forgotten about them!) and right here in my backyard! All of these women, mean the world to me. Phi Mu has also led me to be a part of the lives of alumnae and collegians that I have never even met in person in places all over the southeast and those that I have met in person briefly at various conferences and conventions. (This makes me think of the great girls from a northern chapter that we met in Atlanta in 2002 at convention. We were waiting in line with my friend, Carolyn, to get banquet tickets and then we were going to dinner. These girls befriended Ben and Clay immediatly. They entertained them and even rode them to the top floor on the elevator to look out so we could catch up with Carolyn. That is what sisterhood is all about.)

Phi Mu taught me leadership and organization skills, and social skills. I have always been shy, quiet, not one to step up and take on big tasks. Phi Mu taught me that it was worth the risk to step out and be me.

It has been almost a year since I resigned my area position with Phi Mu (even though I'd love to be back in it right now, it was the best thing for me to do at the time). Now, I'm ready to jump back in and so I'm going to serve on the chapter's advisory council and I'm bringing my friend, Kaye, from work with me!
