Red Hat Invasion!

The Red Hats -- South Carolina Queens Council -- invaded Ft. Jackson on Saturday for the quarterly meeting. We met for lunch, a little business and a lot of fun at the Ft. Jackson Officer's Club. The club was beautiful, but the food was terrible! I hope the officer's food is better for their functions!

It was a fabulous day of Red Hat (and Pink Hat) sisterhood as Harolyn and I ventured on this outing. Our friends, Peggy and Linda, from Rock Hill were there. (Peggy is the "Red Hat Nanny" and I've posted some pictures of her Red Hat mobile --- a specially "decorated" PT Cruiser.) And, Sande and Trish from the Palmetto Pearls were there also. I've been blessed with some wonderful new friends through Red Hats and it is always a treat to spend time with them. We met some other beautiful ladies from Myrtle Beach, Columbia and Greenville at our table.

The highlight of the day was finding out more information about some upcoming events, including the first state convention next September. The theme will be "Celebrating Sisterhood in South Carolina" and I know everyone is looking forward to it. We also got information about an Easter event in Rock Hill in April (sponsored by Peggy's group) and the next Queen's Council in April which will be held in Charleston!!

One of the great things about Red Hats is all of the neat places I get to visit! And, I had never been on a military base of any kind. I was enthralled by Ft. Jackson....it is such a self-contained community with its own lake, bowling alley, shopping centers, banks, Burger King.....too cool! As we were driving around trying to figure out how to get out (I took one turn too early), we passed the soldiers drilling and were able to see even more of the base.
