Battlefield Hike

Despite the fact that it was very chilly, this afternoon we decided to head over to Cowpens Battlefield for a little history and a hike. Ben needed to visit a historical site as his last Tiger Cub requirement and Clay needed to visit for his "Citizenship in the Nation" merit badge. We enjoyed seeing the new displays at the museum, hiking around part of the battlefield (it finally got too cold and windy to keep going) and driving out the Scruggs farmhouse to see how people lived 200 years ago in Spartanburg County. The nice thing about Cowpens, except for the museum, we were able to take Maggie along on our outing. She loved walking on her leash and romping around the paths.

Its funny how you can live in a place all of your life and forget the neat things that are there to go see and do.....many of which are free or at least really cheap. Maybe under another blog post, I'll come up with a list of things to do/places to visit in Spartanburg that I want to experience.
