Happy Chinese New Year!

As one of Clay's requirements for Citizenship in the World, he has to attend a cultural festival or event. So, this evening we went to Spartanburg Day School for their Chinese New Year Celebration. It was very neat to see all of the vendors, the school projects and have the boy's names written in Chinese.

One funny side story that we were a little taken aback by, at one of the vendor tables selling various items, a little girl, maybe ten years old, handed one of the students (she was probably twelve) a fold out fan after asking her would she like it. The girl said yes and thank you and turned to walk off. The little girl manning the table then goes, "That will be $5." We found that type of sales technique a little surprising at this type of event.

The boy's loved having Mr. Li write their names for them on book marks.

Happy Chinese New Year! (Mr. Li working on Clay's name.)
