Each year, since 1910, the Boy Scouts of America have designated one Sunday in February as "Scout Sunday". The charter church for Pack/Troop 211, Mountain View Baptist, invited us all to attend services there this morning. I must say, we were pleasantly surpsised with wonderful worship service. If you have never had the chance to hear Tyler Kirby, the pastor there, preach, I highly recommend you visit. If Ron and I didn't already love our church and Mark Williams, this would be our next choice. Rev. Kirby (Ron actually went to high school with him) is one of the most down-to-earth and real pastors I have ever heard. He included himself in the "us" illustrations that he used (which impressed me) and Christ's love was so evident in him and his congregation that it made for a true worship experience.

On the way in, Ron and I were whining (yes, I can admit it) because we wanted to be at our own church this morning. I turned to Ron and told him that "God put us here this morning for a reason." And, WOW! did He! The service was "reversed" this moring....Rev. Kirby preached on "worship" and the act of singing as part of worship. So, he preached and then had hymns and worship songs to put the "lesson into action". God always knows what He is doing......whether we choose to believe it or not is up to us. Ron and I were glad that, even at the last minute, we chose to believe that God put is in the pews of Mountain View Baptist on this particular Sunday for this particular message. Why? One of the most "home hitting" moments of the day was when the pastor said, "Go home today. Eat a big meal and then don't eat again for a week. That is what you are doing if you are only getting God's word on Sunday." WOW! Ron and I both struggle with putting that into action and we both learn very well from analogies. God had prepared us and He had prepared that sermon so we would come away with what we need to be doing.......What a wonderful Sunday!
