Writing!

When I got home today I was thrilled to have my first "package" from the Institute of Children's Literature waiting for me. It contained two text books, From Inspiration to Publication and Best of the Children's Market, as well as loads of reading material, my course manual and my first three sections. Most importantly, section 1, which contains all of the information for assignment 1 was enclosed.

I had already written the first part of assignment 1 (my letter to my editor) and for this part, I had to look at three pictures, pick one and write a short story from it. So, guess what I've been doing tonight? I've posted my story -- keeping in mind this is my FIRST attempt and it is for the 7-10 age group -- in another post. Hopefully, you'll enjoy reading it! And, even more importantly, I hope my editor will find some great things in it as well as offer encouraging feedback to make it good.

Now, I have to print it out on white paper (which I am out of) and get a 9x12 envelope to mail it in. I should have it out by Wednesday at the latest. My deadline to send it in is March 1, but I want to get this ball rolling!

Enjoy the story in the next post and let me know what you think!!
