Interesting day this has been ......as you read in my "Rambling" post, Sunday night was a low, low and the last couple of days have been very tumultuos (just consider this an unspoken prayer request) with lots of emotional phone calls and e-mails about doing what is right for a lot of people and following God's will. Definitly not how I expected the week of my birthday to play out. (Which....haha...I have now been 33 for seven minutes and didn't even realize it).
Okay, I said I wouldn't ramble, so back on track.....today Michelle, one of the youth from church called me while Ron and I were shopping at Target. She wanted us to join her and some other youth at an FCA Volleyball Camp game and then for the worship service later where the band Half Mile Marathon (Be sure the check them out at www.halfmilemarathon.com We love you Robin and Mitch...ya'll were great!) was playing. In light of the week, I think I actually cried in Target when I hung up the phone. If you've had any dealing with teenagers it is quite a compliment for them to ask adults and their kids to join them for anything. And, these students are SO great. We couldn't make it to the game on time, so we picked up a couple of other kids from our neighborhood and headed off to meet them at The Hangar downtown in time for the service. First of all, if you've never been to The Hangar, all I can say is WOW! I wish there had been something like this when I was a youth. Second, the message was WOW! again...it was about glorifying God, not ourselves, primarly using Jude. Now that is a book of the Bible that we don't typically think of when studying the Bible. Now, I can't wait to read it and study it. Third, the band was WOW! We've never gotten to hear them and we were not disappointed. (Check out there website for upcoming dates and GO SEE THEM! Tell 'em we sent you!)
It was an evening that began to put some spirit back in my cup. And, I walked away evaluating how I glorify God in my life. That was one, the most important, goal for this blog. I want to use it to show where He is at work in my life and in this family's life. I don't want to glorify "me", God's creation; I want to glorify God. And, though this isn't one of my devotionals, I'd like to pose the question to you tonight, "How do you glorify God and not His creation?" Let' s make it a goal that we'll focus more on Him and less on "me"! (Instead of a scripture reference here, let me just say, Go read Jude. May God use it to impact your walk with Him.)
(FYI....I can't get pictures to post tonight! I'll get those on here tomorrow so be sure to check again!)
