Band Competition

Saturday I went to my first band competition! Don't tell Ron because I am always giving him a hard time about being a "band geek", but I really always wanted to be in the band. The district I went to school in had you take a test in 6th grade and it decided whether or not you could be in the band and I guess I didn't do well enough.....so I never got to be in the band. Clay and I volunteered to help out the high school band booster. Clay was a tour guide for Lancaster High and I was supposed to work concessions. I passed out one order of fries and then they came around asking for a volunteer to sell programs. I immediately volunteered....no food, sunshine and people! After our shift was over, Clay and I met up with his friend, Andrew, and found seats to watch Byrnes and Boiling Springs perform.

Clay and Andrew getting ready for Byrnes to perform.

Like the football team, the Byrnes band was very impressive....they did a "good vs. evil" theme and half of the band was dressed in black with with white trim and the other half had white with black trim. It made for great field presence.

The Bulldog band takes the field with their winter/Christmas themed performance.

This is my friend, Jana's son, Taylor getting ready to start.

It's rare anymore, at his age, for me and Clay to get to spend some one-on-one time together, so I really enjoyed our time together.
