No Random Moments

"There are those who say there is no balance in the universe and that all things happen randomly...without purpose." Patricia Pollacco from The Christmas Tapestry

We are firm believers that God has orchestrated our lives and that each step is merely a part of His great plan and that there are no accidents, no random moments.

Since Clay first began to parlay his desire to attend the Naval Academy, it seems that one thing after another has "happened". He discovered the JROTC unit here is NAVAL! Navy played in a Bowl game an hour away.....etc......and, then, we went to the game yesterday. Talk about moments that you never stop talking about and analyzing......
This story starts on Friday. I read the Charlotte Observer online and according to it, there is a Navy Pep Rally on Saturday at 10 at the Convention Center. So, when we arrive in Charlotte, we trek to the center.....no pep rally, just the Navy tailgate that we had opted earlier in the week not to order tickets for. Ron encourages us to walk through the lobby and just "check it out". As we are heading back to the street, we pass this woman who looks familiar. And, I realize that it is Mary Jane Johnson. This means nothing to moss of the readers, but Mary Jane was the National President of Phi Mu while I was a volunteer. She and her husband live in Ohio. I turn around and call out her name. She turns and comes over to hug me and remember me! We are excited to see each other!

We introduce our husbands who are both Ron Johnson (isn't that too funny?!) and start catching up. In the course of our conversation we learn that they are at the game because Mr. Johnson is a Navy grad and that we are there because Clay wants to go to Navy in a few years. Now, for the most amazing part of all.........
Mr. Johnson is a RECRUITER for the Naval Academy!!! He spends some time with Clay talking about it, giving him advice of what he can be doing now and during high school and provides him with this card so that Clay can contact him with questions and stay in touch through the process. Absolutely AMAZING!

Can I say that all three of us walked out of the center back to the stadium with our mouths hanging open and going "can you believe....".

It was so good to see Mary Jane and meet her husband.
