Today was the annual "dress up as your favorite book character" day at school. We are such last minute people and so, thankfully, we had a two hour dealy this morning and Ben and I were able to put together something to wear.
Ben went again this year as Marc from "Tweetsie Adventure"...hence the cowboy get up. And, I went as Katadihn, the main character from a novel "Halfway to the Sky". I love this story of a 12 year old who runs away to hike the Appalachian Trail after her brother dies. It was my first novel read-aloud to my class this year and they loved it. So, I dusted off my own hiking boots, which don't get near the use they should, and pulled out my "Take A Hike" tee shirt. I even got to be on our school news to talk about the book :)
