For those of you who checked back....here is my Friday Feast appetizer story.....
Several times over the last couple of months, I've gotten home and our door has been unlocked. Of course, being me, I blamed Ron since he leaves last. Then about a month ago now I came home one day to find my alarm clock, books and battery charger laying on my bed and the top lid of my armoire jewelry box open. Ron said I did and I forgot, I said he did and forgot. A few days later we both forgot about it all together.
Then a lipstick disappeared from my make up bag two weeks ago and when I got back from Charleston last week I found toilet paper in my underwear drawer and my pants drawer. The paper in the pants drawer had orange lipstick on it. I have an orange lipstick under my bathroom counter so I checked it and it had been swiped across something. I truly thought I was going crazy or that we had a poltergeist in our house!
This past Tuesday I came by home before heading to class, but was in a hurry so I didn't notice anything until bedtime. I found four rings and a bracelet on my bathroom counter. I called Ron in and asked him all about it. He finally realized something was going on because I haven't worn rings in a year or so. He tells me that the armoire was open again and the stuff from the top on the bed again and....(big EWWWW here) one of my necklaces fell out of our sheets when he made the bed! I sat down on the floor to check under the bed and to make him check under the mattress (where we did find a zip lock bag and pen top...hmmmm....) while on the floor I notice my black summer sandals under his dresser!!!!!!!!!! Together we check the closet and my shoes are all jumbled up and moved around. Boots have been drug out......And we then have to check every drawer, closet, etc. for bedtime. We did find some evidence of someone under our bathroom sink, too.
On Wednesday I ran into our neighbor and asked if he'd seen anyone around our apartment. He hadn't. The teachers at school and the guys Ron work with have now gotten all these "catch 'em" methods for us in the meantime (obviously they all watch CSI!) Well, five minutes later our neighbor and his wife knock on our door and she tells me that she saw a teenage boy coming out of our apartment on Tuesday afternoon about 3:00!!!!!!!! The gall of this kid....he actually spoke to her! So, she thought it was someone we knew!
I went over to the office and complained.....they "assure" me that they changed the locks (I have doubts.....) before we moved out and that NOONE has access to the master keys. Then, pray do tell, how is some unknown person getting into my apartment when we aren't here?!?!? They agreed to change the locks.
I'm sure this person is sitting somewhere telling all of his/her friends how they are driving some poor woman crazy in this apartment! And, I'm, of course, plotting what I am going to do when I actually catch them! Other than the missing lipstick, nothing that we can tell has been stolen, thank goodness, but it is so unnerving to know that someone has been in your things. Especially the things this person has been into. Obviously our little culrpit has some issues that need to be worked out....maybe he could think about borrowing his mom's shoes, make up and jewelry instead of mine! :)
Update: This morning I slipped on my hot pink Veggies (think like Crocs) and my toes got stuck on something. I took them off and found my scrunchies in the toes!!!!!!!! I guess this was his/her leftover. Who knows what else we'll find!
