Everything's New

Someone told Ron the other day how funny it is that we get so excited about everything and I know it's true...on both accounts. It is funny and we do get excited about everything. I'm sure that if we are in Columbia 34 years from now, I'll feel about it like I did Spartanburg! But, right now, everything is so new and exciting for us.

I've done things this week that I wouldn't have done and I've enjoyed doing things that I wouldn't have enjoyed in Boiling Springs. Going to get food, for example. We always shopped at Ingle's and here there are no Ingle's and the closest Bi-Lo is further away than I want to go. So, this week alone I have tried out Food Lion (it was okay), Publix (good, but a little more $$ than I liked) and Kroger (which I LOVE!) I've even signed up for my discount cards at Food Lion and Kroger!

I also drove out to the Sandhill Farmers Market on Tuesday afternoon to buy fresh vegetables. That was TERRIFIC! The prices were good and so was the selection! I even found and tried (we all love them and can't wait to go back for more) these beans called Pink Eye Peas.

I've also kept the house picked up and clean all week....for those of you who know me, that is quiet a feat!

And, I have found the best thing EVER......a used bookstore about 5 miles away! They take books on trade it, subtract the value of books you purchase and you pay 10%.......in other words, I traded in about $150 worth of books (and still have more to go!), bought 10 new books for $5 and still have about $100 in store credit! This is too cool!

I've spent a little time at school this week...unloading some of my boxes to the room, attended the Board meeting and worked for a short while on a Membership mailing. I really think I'm going to like CSI. The staff, Board and parents I have met so far are wonderful! Oh, and tomorrow, I get to sit in on an interview....never done that before unless I was the one being interviewed :)

I am ready to get out and "see" Columbia....visit Sesquicenntenial (or Sasquatch as we call it) Park, find a church (we are visiting a church on Sunday with my teaching partner), do the Historic Homes tour, go to the State Farmers Market and get out to Lake Murray.

It sounds like y'all are getting settled and really enjoying everything Columbia offers! Good for you! Is there a Walmart close? I don't know what I would do without Walmart! :)

Ha! I know that feeling and, yes, there is a Walmart about 5 minutes away and, for me, even better a Target!! Within 10 minutes there is literally everything shopping you can imagine!! Including the Village at Sandhill --- this awesome, outdoor mall. You should come visit this summer while school's out!
