My parents come to visit

They arrived this morning about 10 and we gave them a tour of the new apartment, Polo Road and then drove over to Clay's school to show them and then to mine and Ben's school where they were able to meet Victoria and Verdie.

From there we headed downtown to pick up Ron for lunch at, you guessed it!, the Palmetto Pig! Everyone enjoyed "pigging out" on the awesome BBQ and fried chicken. After we took Ron back to work I drove my parents over to show them the Governor's Mansion. We decided to park and walk around the open gardens and down to the gates. While we are at the main gate a guard has it open and is just watching us. As we start to head the other direction my mom notices a black car with several men in all black suits go through the gate and pull up to the house. Evidently we just missed the governor coming home!

Ben, of course, couldn't resist playing in the fountain! (Notice that Clay and Poppie couldn't either!)

Clay and Ben decided that it would be fun to hide and chase each other in the garden.

From there we drove over to the State House and even though I've been several times, I've never been when it is in session. As I was finding out about the next time for the movie, the Lt. Governor (who is even better looking in person --- for all my single friends!) came down the stairs to his office. It was pretty neat, but a little weird to think that he's just walking around there while we're "touristing". Later we saw him again as the Senate was returning to session and then when we sat in for a while on the Senate session. We also sat in for a short while on the House's session.

Even though she's lived in SC her entire life, my mom had never visited the State House. My dad had visted, but it was quite a long time ago!

After the movie and a tour of the grounds we were glad to get back in the a/c friendly car! There was rain and a little storm while we were inside the state house and it got very muggy and hotter. We drove down to show my parents the stadium and the Cock-a-booses, the general area of the University, and 5 points before heading back out our way and to the Village at Sandhill.

Before they left we walked down to the edge of Sesqui behind our apartment to take a few pictures.

It was a very fun day and we all had a great time! (though our feet and knees may be singing a different tune!) We were glad they came down to visit and can't wait for them to come back --- we still have the museum to show you and we need to actually shop at Sandhill :)
