I sent of my second story assignment last week for my children's writing class. It was definitely not by best writing. But, have to start somewhere! I used a subject close to my heart so I'll be reworking it for sure once my instructor provides her edits.
I'm also revisiting a short story/novella that I started several years ago. I get ideas from a variety of places and this story was inspired by an ad in our local paper. A father and daughters wrote up a "Wanted" ad asking the mom/wife to please come home. For years it was taped to my desk cabinet as a reminder of this story. I recently threw away the crumbling ad, but this story has always intrigued me. I've added a mini chapter and I'm revamping my characters.
Finally, on the writing front, I received my acceptance letter yesterday for this summer's Spartanburg Writing Project!! That is exciting because I get 6 hours of graduate credit, $300 in books for my classroom and an opportunity to strengthen my teaching of writing skills, and my personal writing skills as well.
