Okay, I've watched football on TV, I've been to high school, college and NFL games.....but, I have never EXPERIENCED football like I did on Friday night. For starters, it was a high school game and the energy, excitement and hoopla rivaled pro games. It was almost as exciting as the Tigers race down the hill and it blew Carolina's 2001 entrance out of the water.
The Byrnes Rebels are a powerhouse team and the are so impressive in their manner, play and electricity. First of all, they have a powerful Trinitron scoreboard that most small colleges would love to have. When they came out on the field for pre-game, they stepped in a synchronized line formation. I was too in awe to even take a picture. Then, when they made their field entrance at the beginning of the game, they huddled in a dance/cheer that made me wish I were a Byrnes fan. (Keeping in mind that we live in Boiling Springs where football is not the school's forte and I watch the people, not the game....I missed very little of this game.....even, when Zach wasn't on the field.)

During the game, you almost wanted the Rebels to score a touchdown to see the song and dance number that everyone, and I mean everyone, players, cheeerleaders, coaches, the band, the fans did....I'm not sure exactly how to describe it except a bounce up and down and all around to funky techno music. It was highly entertaining and Ron and I have gone around all day mimicking it.

The only downers: 1. The way the Trinitron was controlled. The only plays reshown were those that put Byrnes in favor. When something was "against" them, they were mysteriously not on screen. 2. One of the Byrnes players got hurt on a play. After about 30 seconds, the coaches had not even noticed him on the field, they were still celebrating with the sideline. Finally, a Clover coach rushed out to the guy and checked him out. Finally, a Byrnes trainer came out, but the coach never did. Kudos to the Clover coach. His actions really showed the type of guy he is.....and BOO to the Byrnes coaches.
It was definitly a football game unlike anything I (or Ron) had ever been to. It was football movie worthy.
