The House to Myself....Sort Of.....

Ron and Clay are scout camping this weekend, so I almost have the house to myself. Ben and Maggie are here with me, but Ben is entertaining himself and Maggie is doing what she does best, laying around. And, of course, Ron came home this morning for a shower (he's not die-hard outdoorsman at all) and Ben and I are joining them tonight for dinner and a Flag Retirement Ceremony.
Camping started earlier this week a our house: With the fact that it is about 35 degrees out at night, Ron had to get a sleeping bag this week. Maggie had fun with him while he checked it out.
Everyone has heard of "Jack" in the box....well, this is "Maggie" in the box!

I love the faces Maggie makes in pictures and this one was priceless! Either she was upset that Ron wouldn't let her down in the sleeping bag with him, or she is imagining how cold he'll be on Friday night!

Then they had to have supplies, food, and get packed. Ron came home on Friday, packed his car and headed to the campsite. I picked Clay up from wrestling practice and after a shower, he loaded my car and Ben and I drove him to the campsite.

We got there (they camp on the Scoutmaster's daughter's land) and being that I don't see very well at night (and it is PITCH BLACK out there), I managed to turn too late and get my Explorer stuck in a ditch. Ron and two other assistant scoutmasters came to check it out and Ron was able to manuever it out of the ditch and down to where they were camping. Needless to say, he wasn't real happy at all.

Clay and Ron put together Ron's camping stove. He's making country style steak tonight for supper on it....YUUUUUUMMMMMYYYYY!

Ben and I stayed for a few minutes to warm up by the fire and then headed out for pizza and our warm apartment!

Ben spent his night playing in his room, while Maggie and I watched "The Lake House". Believe it or not, all of us were in bed by 9:30!

Was "The Lake House" good? I've heard mixed reviews, but still thought about renting it. You and I usually have similar tastes so I'll take your word for it!

Hey-
I have been reading your blog everyday but have not had a chance to write back.
First, I loved the football pictures and the pictures from Leonard and Kim's house. If I couldn't be there, at least I could read about it!
I also love reading about Ben and Clay's adventures.
I loved the Lake House, but don't know why. Sometimes I enjoy whimsical nonsense.

Oh-
David and I just got back from seeing the Lindenwold fall play, Narnia. It was great, and I was very proud to point out to my grandson that I helped sew the costumes.

David earned his orange belt on Friday night. He was excited.

HMMMM - other news. Tyler and Dave are having a little boy. Since there are already two Davids in the family and a third would be very confusing, Dave did some research and found an American Scandinavian version of David - Davon so he will be Davon Hudson Morschauser.

My master's thesis for this second masters that I have been working on was accepted so I should graduate in January. Whew!!!

Melanie - that is so nice that you are being asked back to teach college level reading. Good for you.
